Classes

Our classes are separated by both age and ability level. Ages overlap between the levels and are listed as a guide. More experienced/advanced dancers should follow the upper level for their age, whereas newer/intermediate dancers should follow the lower. If you have questions about where to place your dancer, please email ddedryden@gmail.com

Level Descriptions (Click to Expand)

Age alone does not determine class level. Aging up into the next group does not mean a dancer is ready for the next level. Level placement is up to instructor discretion. If you are unsure of what level to enroll in, please email us at ddedryden@gmail.com.

  • This level is for our youngest dancers, starting with age 3. Dancers up to age 7 are welcome in this level if they are newer to dance or are not ready for more structured classes. Our Rubies have shorter classes at an introductory level.

All Rubies must be toilet trained in order to enroll.

  • This is our middle level recommended for dancers ages 6 to 12. Dancers on the cusp of Ruby and Emerald might fit in Emerald if they are ready for longer, more structured classes and/or have a few years of experience. Dancers within the upper cusp, the 10-12 range, are a fit for this level if they are newer to dance or are at a more beginner/intermediate level.

  • Sapphire is a new level this season for dancers who have progressed past Emerald, but are not quite ready for Diamond. This level is recommended for dancers ages 8-12 who have several years of dance experience and are performing at an intermediate to advanced level for their age.

  • This is our highest level of classes for dancers 11 and up who have many years of dance experience and are performing at an intermediate/advanced level.

Full time team members are required to take ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical/contemporary. Part time competition dancers are required to take ballet, tap, and jazz. Pre-competitive dancers are required to take ballet.

All team members are required to take technique classes in the style(s) they will be competing in and their assigned rehearsals; any other available classes in their age group are optional.
